TRANSBAY TRANSIT TERMINAL
San Francisco, CA
These photographs were taken in San Francisco’s transbay bus terminal. The labyrinthine structure is a traveler and commuter hub, and also shelter to a large homeless population. Built in 1939, the terminal is scheduled to be demolished and replaced in the next few years. The new terminal will include bus functions as well as retail space and condominiums, almost certainly displacing the homeless residents.
The Transbay Transit Terminal was designed by Arthur Brown Jr. (SF's Coit Tower, City Hall, Opera House).
